Portraits

Jewel Justice

April 2025

These are my first self portraits. I wanted to capture myself in this season of transition, as I am continuing to grow as a multifaceted creative and professional. I have always loved photography and had an eye for it but had never done self portraits. When I am capturing others, I look for moments of deep emotion and powerful angles that combine stillness and action. When shooting self portraits, I had this unique experience of seeing myself --- Jewel, the complex individual and multimedia artist --- through the lens of one aspect of me --- Jewel, the photographer. Since there was no action, I captured raw emotion. I just sat with myself. We will see how my perspective evolves along with me...

Cameron 'Cece' Jefferson

April 2025

Cameron 'Cece' Jefferson is a community-driven entrepreneur who has long advocated for Black and brown people to have more access to hair care options in Princeton, New Jersey. During the beginning of the pandemic, after beauty supply stores and other businesses closed, she decided to launch her own business. Cea’Mone Beauty, a local home-based beauty supply shop, sells hair and beauty essentials, with the goal of helping Black and brown people fall in love with their hair. These portraits, featured in my article, captures Cece's shop.
